Dragon Boat Festival

The excitement of Chinese Dragon Boat races is captured in this colorful and bombastic work.  During the races, rowers on long, thin boats race to the beat of a large drum, and fireworks are randomly set off from tall poles right on the boats.  This is a powerful band setting, based on a traditional Chinese pentatonic melody, that should bring the house down!
