Jorge Vargas

Jorge Vargas has been at the forefront of the mariachi education movement in Texas for many years. He is a graduate of The University of Texas-San Antonio with a degree in music education, and he also has his Master’s degree in education with a principal certificate from Lamar University.

Although he primarily composes and arranges for mariachi ensemble, Vargas has also composed and arranged for marching band, concert band, and now, string orchestra.

Jorge is currently the head band director and mariachi director at Memorial Junior High School in Eagle Pass, Texas.
